Henschke wines showcase the proud grape growing and winemaking heritage of the Henschke family, spanning over 150 years. Fifth generation winemaker, Stephen Carl, took over the reigns of the family winery in 1979. Stephen’s wife, Prue, and their three children - Johann, Justine and Andreas, help him in managing the wine estate.
ABOUT - Henry’s Seven Shiraz Blend
Henry’s Seven is an exquisite blend of 5% Viognier, 10% Mataro and 20% Grenache grapes with 65% Shiraz grapes. These grapes were fermented, and then aged in seasoned French hogsheads for 10 months. This process resulted in a deep crimson coloured wine lined by purple hues. The perfumed nose exhibits lush aromas of ripe raspberries, spiced plums and florals, coupled with savoury nuances of beef stock, cracked black pepper, crushed marjoram and licorice. Intense flavours of spiced plums, ripe red berries, black pepper and anise spice combine with fine and silky tannins on the generous palate, offering a textural mouthfeel which eventually culminates in a soft and captivating finale. This wonderful Shiraz blend has a cellaring potential of 15 or more years.
