A Celebration of Chocolate

Chocolate lovers unite! 7 July 2022 is World Chocolate Day, a day where we celebrate mankind’s greatest culinary invention - chocolate.

Chocolate has been around for nearly all of history. Archeologists in Mexico have found evidence of cocoa beverages dating back to 1900BC yet it wasn’t until the 16th century that chocolate made its way to Europe. Throw in some sugar, milk and the industrial revolution, and chocolate has grown into the multi billion dollar industry we know today.

If you’re looking for suggestions on how to celebrate one of the world’s most favourite sweets, we’re here to help with a few suggestions:

Treat yourself to your favourite chocolate dessert

Go out with friends or family for an after dinner treat, either your local favourite or one you’ve heard about but have not got around to trying. If there are a few of you, order a couple of desserts so you can have a variety of choices for the whole table. Not only will you be improving your mood with chocolate (let’s face it, chocolate makes us happy), but you’ll also be supporting local business too.

Go for an office hot chocolate run

Break up your work day with a hot chocolate run for you and your co-workers. Not only will it help you to get you through the day, it will boost the mood of the office. And if you need a little something extra to get you through the afternoon slog, you can always have a mocha so there are no excuses.

Gift your loved ones

Gift hampers full of sweet nibbles are a wonderful gift to send to your family, friends and colleagues, no matter the occasion or reason, everyone loves being sent chocolates! To help you share the love, we offer a collection of luxury chocolate gift baskets full of award winning chocolates by local artisan producers. From hot chocolate, chocolate cookies and decadent gourmet white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, we have it all.

A good bottle of red wine goes exceptionally well with chocolate so why not spoil them this World Chocolate Day with one of our wine and chocolate gift baskets you can have delivered to their door.

Cook your favourite chocolate treat

Another fun way to celebrate chocolate is by getting your hands dirty and making a chocolate masterpiece from scratch. My favourite chocolate treat is my Chocolate Marble Cheesecake but in celebration of World Chocolate Day, a new recipe we’ll be trying is Haigh’s Fudgy Chocolate Spiced Brownies.

Just indulge

At the end of the day, World Chocolate Day is a day where we just appreciate chocolate. If this means that you are on the couch eating a block of chocolate by yourself, you're still doing it right.
